There was not enough space aboard for the enlisted to have a fixed eating area so most ate where their bunk was. The below photo shows D-109, on 3rd deck, starboard side about mid-late 1930s. Wooden tables still being used with some still aboard today. In the overhead are ranks the table hang from when not in use. The cafeteria does not exist so designated sailors (for extra pay from those in the space) would bring the meals to the space, |
